On average, the cost of electricity on the grid is 5.12 cents per kWh.
Why renewable energy is bad?
Chances are, you have heard this argument before: “Renewable energy is too expensive.” This is a common argument made by renewable energy critics. But is it true? What exactly do they mean by “too expensive”? Solar, wind and hydroelectric power are some of the cheapest sources of energy on the planet. They are more than competitive with fossil fuels. And their cost-effectiveness continues to rise. This is because technological improvements are happening in parallel with declining costs. “Renewable energy is too unpredictable.” Despite fears, the number of energy outages in the United States dropped from 0.54 percent in 2007 to 0.31 percent in 2013.

According to CNBC, “The U.S. is generating 2,592 gigawatts of electricity, from about 17,948 generating facilities across the country. That’s enough to power each of our current 7.6 million U.S. households over eight hours a day on average, or two years’ worth of average U.S. daily electricity consumption.” Not only is this more than we can use, it’s more than we need. Sure, we can generate additional electricity if we use it during a drought, but that’s not the way to use this vast source of power. It needs to be used efficiently and this is not the most efficient way to use renewable energy.

In fact, research and development of solar panels has increased so rapidly over the last 30 years that we can now get more out of the sun than we used to. This is the first time that solar energy has been the cheapest source of electricity since the turn of the century. Wind energy is also getting cheaper every year.

Stop Being Greedy We have to remember that our prosperity and future won’t come from a green planet alone. We need to use our technology to advance as a whole. If we stop trying to take from one place to give to another, we will stagnate. Be Proactive There are several things we can do to move forward. We can have clean, safe, renewable sources of energy. So we can stop worrying about what those older generations are doing and take steps to expand the economy and put people back to work. We can also develop technologies to better transport and store energy, especially when it comes to when it comes to renewable energy. Take a step back We have to remember that we all have a role in making a difference for problems with renewable energy.
Overproduction Because wind, solar, and geothermal plants are less expensive to build, it costs more to use them than other electricity sources. In the long run, that will mean that some people will be paying for wind or solar energy that they don’t use. We need to let the market determine which power sources are the most cost-effective and to educate consumers so they know about the costs. People Some people are simply against new forms of energy.
